“Plastic Planet” is a small scale series of work that explores a very large scale problem.

upcycled discarded plastic beads on naturally dyed cotton & silk/cotton
2 by 2 inches each
This work is stretched over a mat board insert with cotton backing and picture hanger.

According to Carbon Tracker, 36% of plastic is used only once, 40% ends up polluting the environment and less than 10% is actually recycled. Because plastic is not biodegradable, the vast majority of all plastic ever created still exists on the planet today.
